On Friday, October 12th, Ethan and Bob picked me up at 7am and
we headed up north to Rumney, NH. Including some excruciating
traffic en route to the Tappan Zee Bridge ("You scream, I scream,
we all scream for Pork Loin"), we made it up there in
7 hours from my house.
When we got there, we met Ed at the Parking Lot Wall. He was climbing
with Wes, who could only stay for the day. I led "Chloe's Breakfast
Special" * (5.8), "Glory Jean's" ** (5.6), "Squeeze My Lemon" * (5.8), and top
roped "Red Sea Pedestrian" * (5.10b) and "Egg McMeadows" * (5.9+) without
any falls or hangs. Ethan, Bob, Ed and Wes took turns leading these climbs
as well.
Then we wandered over to the Meadows area for one more climb. Ed, Ethan
and Bob led "Lies and Propaganda", 5.9, while I sat this one out due to
gastrointestinal distress, probably the results of the Mcdonalds food
I ate earlier.
The four of us went to the Branch Brook Campground in Campton to
check in - we got a trailer that slept 6 for $65/night. Tomorrow Becky
will join us. Then off to dinner at Mad River Tavern in town for
a delicious meal. Early to bed.
