Ice Skating 1/12/02

One Saturday, we decided it was finally time to teach the girls how to ice skate. We met Gary along with Ashley Rose and Zachary at the nearby South Mountain Ice Skating Arena. The kids did great! Jasmine quickly figured out how to ice skate, using her experience with roller blades to help her, and ventured out without needing to hold our hands after just a couple of laps around. Jasmine and Ashley Rose enjoyed skating together, holding hands and wiping out together. Ariel had never been on ice skates before and did a great job! She held our hands and kept herself standing most of the time. Time to sign them up for lessons!

After public skating time was over, we stuck around to watch the 1st half of an ice hockey match between the Seton Hall Prep pirates and a team from St.Josephs in Metuchen. The girls were fascinated - it was not only the first time they watched ice hockey, but the first time they saw it live, so it was extra exciting. So we stuck around, had snacks and enjoyed the game.

Afterwards the girl proclaimed they were hungry and not tired and wanted to go out for dinner. They seemed kinda tired to me. We discussed where we could eat, but they both had that spaced out look in their eyes. They still proclaimed they were not tired. I suggested that we go out for breakfast in the morning instead and go home to relax. About 30 seconds later, they were both asleep in the car. We had a fun, active day!
